FUGUE / STRUCKOUT California Weekend

It has been a little while, but we are finally hitting the road for a few days to play with our friends Struckout. They recently released a wonderful album "What You Deserve", so it just made sense to play out of town for a few days on our new material. Both bands will also be playing new unrecorded material as well. It will be a quick but fun weekend. All TBA details will be finalized by the end of the week. Thank you to everyone that was willing to help us out and make this weekend happen.

- Friday, Feb 26: Los Angeles @ The Coop w/ NOYES + 1 TBA (EVENT)
- Saturday, Feb. 27: Santa Cruz @ SubRosa Community Space w/ Rex Goliath & VWLS (EVENT)
- Sunday, Feb. 28: Santa Barbara @ FUNZONE w/ Comedown + 1 TBA (EVENT)

Four Years

Four years ago today, we played our first show in the front of a Buffalo Exchange in Fullerton. Funny how our regular spot now is playing the back of the skate shop in Fullerton. It has been quite the experience from 2012 until now, but in those four years we have been able to be a part of so much, see so much, and create something we are happy to call Fugue. We are grateful for beginning in the community that we had, and we are eternally grateful for those who have supported us throughout the years. Without everyone from who was in attendance that first show up until our show this last Monday, this whole experience would not have been the same without your support and caring. Little did we know that in that first crowd four years ago we would make some of our closest friends and meet some of the strongest supporters of Fugue. It is a special thing to know that though Fugue is three friends creating something together, the supporters have had just an equal part in turning this band into what it is today. We look forward to what the future holds, and we will always be grateful for being a small band from Yorba Linda.

Thanks.

Catching Up

Photo: Daniel Torres

2016. A new year, a big year. Let's catch up a bit on what has been going on. It has been an eventful past couple months, so here are the highlights:

- Our new full-length, No One Else, was officially released on December 8th, 2015. The album is now streamable/downloadable/physically buyable, we have been shipping out orders (sorry for the delay on some), and the whole album is listenable on fancy new music players like Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, etc etc etc.

- We played our record release show on December 18th at our current practice space, Paradise Records. Layman, Prayer Chain from Florida, and Loughton played the show with us. So many friends new and old came out that night, and that was quite a special occasion.

- Along with the new album, we also have a new shirt design available at our Bandcamp. Feel free to pick one up, and we will throw in some extras we made recently.

- We are currently working on booking a weekend tour with Long Beach's Struckout. This will be February 26 - 28. We will be heading out to the Bay Area. More information to be announced soon regarding this. Definitely looking forward to the whole thing.

- We have some new material being created and refined at the moment. We will be returning to the studio to record these new songs with Andrew Schubert in either February or March. These songs will see the light of day a lot sooner than the time it took to get No One Else out. More information about future releases will be announced in the coming months as well.

- Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out. Garrett has already seen it 3 times, hoping to go on his fourth real soon here.

Thank you for everyone that had supported the band in 2015. It was a year of ups and downs for us, including some pretty tense moments. It ended very strong though, and we are more than ecstatic to finally have No One Else out for you to listen to. Please share it with anyone you think would enjoy it; it's an entity of music we really believe in and we hope it can be listened to as much as possible.

Our next show is at Programme Skate & Sound with friends Pocketknife, Layman, and Will Killingsworth's new band Longings. Will runs Dead Air Studios and mastered our first tape and No One Else. We are excited to finally meet him, let along playing with his fantastic new band. Come out if you can.

No One Else to be released on December 8th, Preorder is up, Video for "By & By", etc etc

A lot to pack into this one post, but we will keep it short. No One Else will be released on December 8th, 2015. We will be having a release show on December 18th to celebrate the release. We will only be playing a handful of shows for the rest of the year, but if you are able to come out to Anaheim, California, we would love you to come celebrate our full length's release with us.
We have released a second track from No One Else called "By & By", and we have a video for it too. This is a first for us, but we are excited to have a visual representation attached to one of our songs. Our good friend Lucas Chemotti (formerly of Tobias Funke, operated the Dumb Rock zine) created the concept and filmed, produced, and edited the whole video. He really did a great job, and we are happy to have our music joined in collaborative marriage with his videography. The video was premiered on New Noise Magazine, and is now available to be watched for your own amusement.

No One Else is officially up for preorder now too. Preorders will include goodies such as pins, stickers, and probably some other random things we see fit to through in your package. You can stream "By & By" and "Guest" as much as you want right now, and then preorder the tape in the below player thing. Thanks for checking it out.

No One Else, with its first single, "Guest"

Here we are, finally letting this see the light of day. Today we are announcing that our first full-length record is on its way. The name: No One Else. The label: Avocado Records. This record has been in the works since December 2013, and it was recorded the first weekend of December 2014 in Los Angeles at Golden Beat Recording Studio by Andrew Schubert. The instruments were recorded live to 2" tape within 16 hours, and after Andrew had driven straight from Northern California to the studio in 12+hours straight, the vocals were recorded a month later from 12:30 AM to 10:30 AM on January 11th. The audio was mixed by Nik Karpen, and the overall mix was mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios. The full-length will be released digitally and on cassette by Avocado Records, and plans to release the record on vinyl (the format we intended to release this album on) is still to be determined.

No One Else is figuratively and quite literally pieces of our lives and experience as individuals, as a band, and as members of the community we have been a part of, musically and socially. It captures the sounds of chaos and bliss that has been in our heads for years, and it narrates the emotions of confusion and solitude one can feel in this modern era. From tech and progression to nature and destruction, we have experienced many ups-and-downs throughout our existence, and this album of recordings certainly shares that. The free of us are brothers (two of us by blood), and all we have wanted from this band is to be ourselves, and make the music that only we could make together. Though we bare resemblance to and influence from artists and bands that we love and admire, we have not been aiming to be anyone else but Fugue. It is easy to get caught up in the popularity contest that is the music industry, wanting to be something worth remembering; our goal has been to just share what we have found deep within ourselves. The music may not be perfect or stylish or profitable, but it is us. So that is all we can stand behind.

Hear is our first track off the new record, called "Guest". The release date, preorder information, and further details of No One Else will be announced in the coming weeks. Thank you for your patience with us, and thank you for even taking the time to listen. We are forever grateful for every individual who has taken a chance on this band, whether it be through monetary facets or even just caring. We play the music we hope to enjoy, but we share the music for you. Thanks.

Check out the article our friend Nikolas Soelter wrote about "Guest" in the Bay Area-based blog The Bay Bridged.

It's been a little bit.

So to the naked eye, it would appear that we haven't really been up to much of anything. We have been keeping a little quiet, playing a handful of shows every couple months. This is not nelglect: we have been focusing most of our efforts in our upcoming LP. We recorded 9 tracks in December 2014 at Golden Beat Recording Studio in Los Angeles, CA. The experience was quite a new one, since our two other releases had at most 3 tracks. 9 songs was quite an undertaking, but we learned a lot about ourselves and we pushed ourselves into new spectrums of being a three-piece from the suburbs of Orange County. A lot of time and energy had created these songs, and we are very excited to reveal the finished piece. We have received the final mixes and we are working to get them mastered ASAP. We are on the hunt for a label to help us get this LP out on a 12" vinyl record, and we hope this will not delay the release too long. We want you to have these songs in your hands as soon as we can get them out there.

We appreciate you sticking with us and at least somewhat caring about this piece of work and this group of three kids that just want to write and play music that we can re about. We will be playing as much as we can this summer, so we hope to run into you at a show. Thanks, and we hope not to be as quiet for a while.

Tour, and the life after.

So yes, yet again it's been a little while. From one thing to another, we seemed to get occupied with life and neglect things like this blog. We hope you have been well. We have been up to quite a bit. We will recap some of those things.

One of our biggest accomplishments in the last months was our Western U.S. Tour this past July with our dear friend Roman Candles. It was a 16-day excursion that took us through Utah, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Vancouver B.C., Oregon, and California. Many a great times were had, and  venturing into Canada marked Garrett's first time out of the country. We played so many great shows, shared bills with amazing bands, and met some of the kindest and most wonderful people we have ever come across. It would become a very lengthy list to name everyone that was involved with helping our tour become a success, so if you are reading this, you know who you are and we sincerely appreciate you and your support towards this band. This band means a great deal to us, and it was comforting that we were well received by many. Again, a sincere thank you. We can't wait to come back and build new experiences with you.

Now as we are home, we are looking towards the future and making plans as what to do next. We are very excited to announce that we will be recording our first full-length of material this October with Andrew Schubert. Once completed, we will aim to release the material on a 12" LP. Almost all of the songs we play live nowadays haven't been recorded ever, so we look forward to finally lay these tracks down. Keep your eyes on us, and we promise to update you throughout the whole process.

We have a few shows booked in the coming months in the Southern California area. We won't be hitting it as hard for the next couple months in preparation for recording, but we are still trying to be out there as much that makes sense. Try to make it out to some of these shows; we would appreciate the company. (Yes, the ones planned thus far are all at Bridgetown, but we will have more to add at different places. Bridgetown is just very kind to us.)

- Friday, September 12th: Bridgetown DIY, La Puente CA w/ Never Young, whatfunlifewas, Left Astray, Pedestrian
- Thursday, September 18th: Bridgetown DIY w/ La Bella, Dharma, Pedestrian, Sophie
- Wednesday, November 12th: Bridgetown DIY w/ Self Defense Family, Wild Moth, Goodtime Boys, and Left Astray

Before December, we plan to book a little weekend tour here and there.

Thanks again for checking in with us. We promise to let you know when things keep moving along. Take care.
